Going public, sort of…
A great gal, Geraldine has an expanded and humorous look at the whole brain surgery thing, at http://www.everywhereist.com/70-things-i-learned-from-having-a-brain-tumor/ which is a great read for anyone who’s involved in any way with anyone in a brain surgery situation. According to my BFD Edy and to just about every one of my many friends, everyone knows or is someone who’s had or having brain surgery!
She brings a great writing style and lots of light-hearted but spot-on illumination to all the mysteries facing people like me, and the people who care for me both directly and indirectly. Added bonus – she’s an avid travel blogger and has tons of great advice about zillions of destinations you might want to visit!
So this morning I woke up at the normal time (just before six am) and discovered that I actually had gotten some sleep last night. Tried a new method of just forcing myself to stay in bed, so I think I did a lot of catnapping over the night. That’s definitely better than giving up and NetFlixing all night long! I feel a bit more rested and am now ready to tackle the remaining stuff to get my taxes out the door in time to not blow my extension and get in all kinds of trouble with the IRS!
I usually communicate in lots of different ways with lots of different people, but this morning (or maybe between catnaps) I realized this will become too hard for me in the coming weeks. So, since I’ve started this blog and intend on keeping up with it during the whole recovery (good brain-retaining exercise!), I’m going to narrow down to just this for the time being. It’s getting too hard to do facebook, google+, twitter, Linkedin, email, text messaging and all the other stuff – I can’t keep track!
So I’m inviting my friends, extended family and anyone who’s interested to either lurk here and keep up anonymously, or create an account and add comments as you wish. I promise to respond to all comments as best I can, and I hope the spammers and flamers will give me a break. I’ll try to keep it entertaining and engaging, but I know I can’t hold a candle to Geraldine in the blogging department, I’m just a newb!
I am going to avoid the short bit.ly type links here, nowadays its so easy for bad guys to fake links and send you to bad places, I’d rather see a full URL and know where it takes you than a shortened one that could go anywhere. Part of my professional life advising folks on personal computer security and all – I haven’t lost all my mind yet!
For any of my friends from my professional world, Pam is my go-to girl, you can reach her at any of the ways you could reach me, and while she may or may not be able to help you with her particular situation, she will do her best and might even tap me (on the head!) for advice if I can give it to her to give to you. And my soul-mate and best friend (and wife!) Nicole will take over dealing with email for me. We did this once before when I had a double-concussion (no relation to Marvin the Alien) and never split things apart, so all emails to either of us (and my many addresses) go to our joint inbox. Not going to share those emails here, if you need ’em you already have one or more.
But please, if you want to communicate with me, do it here for the time being, so I can focus on the simplest single way and hopefully avoid a ton of confusion.
